The CV in Italy

In Italy, there aren’t any rules when it comes to writing a CV, although brief texts are prefered (no longer than 2 pages) and in chronological order. Photographs aren’t usually included.

A good CV should consist of, in chronological order, personal information (including phone number), as well as information related to studies, working experience and areas. Hobbies aren’t mentioned.

Male candidates should clearly mention if they’ve served in the military.

Goals and skills of the candidate go in the cover letter and not the CV. It’s better to wait until the interview to give a detailed explanation of the candidate’s expectations, this way the information will make a better impression on the employer than written.

It may be a good idea to make changes to the CV when applying for different positions.

In Italy it’s not usual to write shorter versions of a CV (American format).
